My Latest Movie-Discoveries, And Why They Are So Great!
I think it’s time for me to share some of my latest discoveries in the motion picture world. I have taken a while because, to be fair, this year has been full of new seasons for my favourite TV shows.
However, after enjoying some Game Of Thrones, Shameless and American Gods, I have been able to lump together a mix of movies and tv shows you guys should start watching as soon as you have an evening off.
Mid90s
Have you ever feel like being taken to another place whilst watching a movie?
If there is something that describes this awarded film is that particular feeling. It does an amazing job immersing you into the life of a young boy. His family, the nasty relationship he has with his older brother and the way he starts an unusual friendship with older guys while learning to skate are so realistic is hard to not to feel part of it.
Lunatics
When I discovered that my favourite comedian in the world was creating a new TV show for Netflix, I was more than excited. After months waiting for it come out, I enjoyed the whole series in just a weekend. In Lunatics, you can see different, extravagant characters with different lives trying to make the most of their existence.
I had a great time going through every episode of the show, but my repeat button will still stay on “Ja’mie Private School Girl” and “Angry Boys”.
Pity
This Greek movie makes the risky move of portraying one of the most hidden and strange obsessions somebody could have: addiction to sadness. Or perhaps, addiction to make people feel sad for you. In Pity, we follow a depressed family man whose wife is in a coma at the hospital. He takes care of the child and gets the sympathy of all their relatives and friends.
One day, the wife wakes up…
Can You Ever Forgive Me
You have probably already seen this movie advertised everywhere. A copywriter from New York needs money to live and take care of her sick cat, so she starts forging texts allegedly made by famous writers.
The title got my attention and the movie was very interesting.
The best? It’s based on a true story!
Border
The strangest movie I have seen this year by far.
A security guard who works in the airport meets a guy with the same chromosomic condition. After falling in love with him, she discovers he hides a secret and has a particular way to treat other people.
If you feel like watching something very different for once, you can give it a chance and, of course, LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE IT!
And that is my current selection of the last great movies and TV Shows I have been watching. Have you watched any of them or perhaps all of them?
I am very excited about a few upcoming movies I have seen Trailers like “Queen of Hearts” or “The Souvenir”, I can’t wait to put my eyes on them! Also, let me know if I should add any other movies to my “Need to Watch” list. I look forward to hearing from you!

It’s so cool you watched the movie! 🎬
Yeah, I really enjoy those type of stories, the small details and the realism makes them unique 🙂

I havent’t seen the rest but Pity is such a weird movie! Greek movies are sometimes brutal…
Kiira Smith
True fact😂
I loved pity because of the delicate and unknown topic it focuses on.

Mid90s was great. I watched a few days ago and keep thinking about it. I wanted more when it ended!
Kiira Smith
I wish they had showcased the brother’s situation a bit further.
I am happy with the ending though 🙂
Joanna
I have seen Lunatics recently because I am a Chris Lilley fan. It was good, but some of his previous stuff is definitely better as you mentioned!
Kiira Smith
Yeah I hope to see him in a new TV show soon🍿🍿

Border is a very different movie, very weird. I need to have a look at the other ones, specially Pity (I love weird films!)
Kiira Smith
I hope you like them🙂
Jane
Nice selection! You mentioned Game Of Thrones, what do you think about the finale?
Kiira Smith
The whole season was quite disappointing for me. I feel they foreshadowed so many amazing ideas but everything finished in a rush.
Still could have been worse though haha. What did you think about it?
Jane
Thanks for asking!
So, I really didn’t enjoy it as much as the rest of the Series. Some people really liked it but I don’t think it was that good!
Kiira Smith
Yeah I don’t understand why they finished it that way 🤷♀️🏻
