    Cold Weather Makes My Day

I am currently writing this at one of the Starbucks’ locations spread around Sydney. It’s been a while since my last visit (the iced caramel macchiato tastes different), but today was the perfect day for it. I can see the rain starting to pour from the window. I didn’t bring an umbrella, and the bus station is a seven-minute walk away, but I couldn’t be happier. Winter always awakens something in me. Some people are surprised when I express my love for this season, especially given my Mediterranean roots. But a few understand it; they mention the coziness of staying indoors with warm drinks. While I enjoy the idea of…

    The Tales of the Year

Happy Belated 2024!     I hope you had a fantastic end of the year and an even better start to the new one! From my side, this New Year comes with plenty of life changes, including one more year living in the OZ and a new job, with an entirely different schedule (meant to make my life just a bit nicer than it was last year).  On top of that, it is summer in Australia! I can’t get used to this largely different weather, but I have been enjoying the sun quite a bit, and I am planning on having some surf lessons again! Aside from that, I have…

    I Found Your Mug

I often finish my shifts feeling mentally drained. Sometimes I’m also hungry. On Fridays, a bit tipsy from the office drinks provided. After work, I always head to the closest bus stop, which is only a few minutes walk from the office. I am usually the only person waiting for the bus. There is a bench at the bus stop, which I never use since it is heading towards the building on the same road instead of the road itself, making it very easy for any person sitting there to miss the bus when it comes if they aren’t paying attention. Last Tuesday I was not hungry, only exhausted. I…

    New Favourites in New Life

Work and life in this new city have changed the way I feel towards how I spend my free time. In one of my previous posts, I mourned about my cozy hours in coffee places in London and about the delicious croissants you could find on every corner. I still miss them, very greatly. Personal nostalgia has been hitting me pretty hard this year. I still long for the efficiency of public transport and the abundance of career opportunities the British capital was able to offer. However, I have made some efforts to adapt to the new environment, and they have paid off! As time goes by and we head into…

My 2023 Best Reads Update + Watchies

I’ve been lucky enough to find some worth-sharing books that I believe everyone could enjoy, or at the very least, appreciate. After simple research and some important spamming from Social Media, I came across a few controversial books with mixed reviews. People loved them or hated them in equal parts. Some consider them overrated, and some believed them to be too tough, even extremely “triggering”.   ANIMAL – BY LISA TADEO Few books have shocked me as greatly as this one. The writing style is so electric that, despite disliking the main character, I couldn’t help but feel an emotional connection to her. I read it so fast that I…

    Latest and Favourites

It’s been a while since I last shared my favourites of the month. Living in a new country has given me a chance to introduce flavours, routines and hobbies while simultaneously abandoning some others. These are some willy-nilly-picked customs and behaviours that I have seen or done for the first time in my life.   No Shoes One of the first days in the city, I saw a couple walking down the street. They looked happy, engaged in their conversation, wearing comfortable clothes and not a single shoe in sight. I was shocked when a few days later I saw another guy walking around with no shoes. Turns out that…
