Welcome To The Season Of Movie Nights

If there is one thing that makes us feel like we are almost back to normal is the release of multiple movies and shows. It has been a long wait since we had the opportunity to watch another season of our favourite sagas.

The beginning of autumn (AKA the best season of the year) has launched new trailers for upcoming TV Shows that we can excitingly add to our list of “Things to wait for”.

If you love spending your weekend evenings cooking mug cakes and drinking mulled cider immersed in a story, check out this update and let me know if I am missing something!

1- Maid

The tale of a woman leaving her abusive husband with her child and trying to survive with no money, no job and no friends.

Maid is a story based on the life of Stephanie Land. The book does an amazing job bringing the real drama of a woman leaving a toxic environment at home just to find an unlimited number of barriers and struggles on her way to independence.

What did I like about this show?

I just finished watching it. Despite being a little overdramatic, I like how incredibly human yet broken everyone manages to be. Maid does a perfect portrait of an abusive relationship with no physical abuse, and the struggles that many women find when trying to leave their toxic households.

2- Animal Kingdom

If you need a break from the previous drama, you may enjoy this show.

A teenage guy moves with his grandmother and his uncles after the death of his mum. Soon he discovers all the crime surrounding the family business and the gravity of the decisions he needs to make if he wants to continue living with them.

What did I like about this show?

The story is good, the actors are great and despite having released over 4 seasons, I am still invested. Every character gives a different unique essence to the plot. I am shocked that I hadn’t heard about this saga before this year.

If you enjoy a family drama with some crime sprinkles and a bit of action sauce you will be obsessed with this show!

3- American Crime Story: Impeachment

American Crime Story is a collection of real events that took place in the United States just a few years ago. Every season is a different case and I have watched a few ones, but the one that has gotten my attention the most is the last season.

Impeachment narrates the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. If you are looking for a TV show with no blood and no guns, just a bunch of suits and women backstabbing friends, this one is for you!

4 – You – Season 3

The manipulation and mind games that the main character maneuvers in order to manipulate and reach to his victims is an endless game that continues during this season.

I am currently reading the third book and I am surprised at how different the story gets. At this point, we can tell that the books and the show have divorced and now live independently with zero contact. For example, the secondary unhinged character “Love” gets a lot of screentime in this season, unlike her book counterpart.

If you have never watched You I don’t want to give you any spoilers, but if you feel like following the life of a stalker, you can start during Halloween month!

Missing Summer Already…?

If you aren’t ready for lower temperatures and dry leaves, you are still in time for a splash of screen summer. Some of the shows you may want to check are:

White Lotus

The story of different families doing tourism in a luxurious resort in Hawaii. The different ideologies between the children and their parents, and also between the customers and the hotel staff bring a wonderful plot.

Nice Perfect Strangers

Based on the book of the same name. In this one, Nicole Kidman is a guru of wellness that welcomes 9 traumatised strangers into her village and guides them through their healing process with different activities, meditations and drugs.

Movie for Halloween Night?

Nightcrawler

I watched this movie last month and It shocked me. A very dark tale about an unemployed man that discovers the dark role of making business with the aftermath of car accidents.

I recommend watching the trailer before the movie because it is a morbid story and clearly not for everyone. On the other side, is one of the most original movies I have seen in a long time.

And don’t forget to save these dates on your calendar:

18th of October: Succession, Season 3 (We already have two episodes out!)

29th of October: Last night in Soho

21st of October: Dune

And that’s everything on my list so far, have you watched any of these already? Let me know which Show/Movie are you more excited about and remember to add your recommendations in the comment section down below.
