Let’s Crash our 2020 Resolutions

Why is it good to have New Year Resolutions? They make you feel excited about the future, they make you invest quality time with a real purpose and, despite the fact that we don’t always get to meet all of them, at the very least we get closer to some other goals.

What you really want is to master the art of creating resolutions, but in an effective way. You want to improve this craft every year in order to upgrade yourself and feel great when you have achieved some of them.

The key to meet your resolutions is to make them specific and accessible. Or at least that’s what everyone says. Keeping yourself accountable for everything you do is one of the best ways to keep going. Scheduling days to practice your new goals and read about your new interests instead of watching the 3rd episode of Shameless in a row.

Wait a second, you haven’t organized your New Year’s Resolutions yet?

Don’t panic! Keep breathing and remember that January is simply like the first step of the journey that 2020 is. Take your time to organize your priorities and get excited about them!

I believe that the most we remind ourselves about these little tips, the more that we will push ourselves to continue, right? Well, it depends. I don’t think I will need to spend too much time practising in order to meet some of the resolutions I have prepared this year. However, some of the harder ones are just going to take some guts to reach.

Like the radical makeover that I want to do in 2020!

Which one? I have no clue! But I know that I am a complete coward when it comes to changing my style. That doesn’t mean I haven’t changed at all over the last few years, but I have done it so softly and carefully that barely no one around me has noticed! I changed my clothing style and darkened my hair colour a couple of times, but the difference wasn’t as huge as I was expecting. I have had almost the same haircut for more than 3 years now.

There is nothing wrong with my style, I have kept it that way for so long because I really like it. However, I have been thinking about doing some radical makeover for a few months (many months!) now and the only thing stopping me from doing it is myself. I am a chicken with my hair!

I have decided that, at some point this year, I will need to grow some courage and do something different from just “cutting the split ends and do a conditioning treatment for my hair”.

Another resolution that has been flowing my mind is to have my first solo trip

I have never travelled by myself alone. It’s always been something uncommon for me, but the most I read about other girls and learn about myself, I believe it’s an amazing opportunity to experience something in a unique way. Of course, it’s scary and I am afraid that I will get lost or overwhelmed. What if I get lost? Or what if I get into the wrong bus? What if I feel lonely?

I believe the best way to tear down those mental barriers is to throw myself out there.

That being said, I won’t need too much courage, but mostly persistence to meet this resolution.

“To get healthier and stronger”.

This one doesn’t sound like a great one, right? It’s too unspecific! And I already have exercised before, so what’s the point?

I plan on achieving this one by making a few changes to my routine. The first one is to eat better. Sometimes, my only breakfast is a coffee or two. Like I said in one of my previous posts, my coffee intake has changed dramatically. Now I don’t need to drink it every day and I have changed this beverage into spinach smoothies, fruits and some coconut water.

It’s more nutritious and definitely a bomb of vitamins that my body wasn’t getting that often before.

The second step is a protein milkshake after exercising. Protein wasn’t really a huge part of my diet before. In fact, my protein intake was extremely scarce. I have read that if you drink a protein milkshake just after doing your workout, your muscles absorb the protein a lot faster.

Of course, I will push myself a bit harder when it comes to my exercise. I will adjust the time that I spend walking on the treadmill and add a few more minutes (and a bit more weight) to the machines.

And read a minimum of 15 books!

I know the number is pretty low for many, but I am spending quite a lot of time already reading articles from Medium (that platform knows how to hook you up…).

Who knows, maybe I stop reading them and focus only on books for a while, but right now I am enjoying it a lot and will keep investing some of my daily reading time in there.

As I mentioned in a previous post I will write all of them in a list and will try to follow an order to be effective with them. Feel free to give me some advice, I have a bunch of them but I am still organizing the order that I want to follow, so that means I am still open to exclude and include any extra parts that could be interesting.

Have you organized your resolutions already? Do you have a specific plan and to meet all of them? Let me know!
