JUNE FAVOURITES
I enjoyed writing the May favourites post (https://chatswithmycat.com/top-may-favourites/). In fact, I enjoyed it that much that decided to write a June favourite too. And, maybe, it will become a permanent post forever, the “Monthly Favourites”: maybe not extremely original but for me, very cool. Who doesn’t love talking about their new favourite things that have discovered?
June has been an interesting month, I got to try many things (especially food places) and started watched some new shows, so I hope you enjoy the post as much as I do writing it.
1.- NEW YORK
As I said on my “2018 April resolution” post (https://chatswithmycat.com/2018-april-resolutions/) I wanted to travel overseas (outside Europe). After getting over the fears we booked some flights to the Big Apple. It was a great experience and I hope to go back someday.
By the way, some of the favourites on this list are actually food places that I tried in the city for the first time, even though all of them can be found in London.
2.- PREPAID CARD
Well, this one it’s a really important one as it could be useful for some of you.
Most people have heard about the prepaid cards as a solution to their insecurities buying online. You just put an amount of money into the card and even if you lose it or you get hacked, just the money inside that card can be lost.
However, having a bank account in the UK comes with some disadvantages. At least when it comes to buying items in different currencies. If you buy something from home and you need to pay with euros or dollar, you will pay the difference (which is usually bigger than the real one), plus a small percentage of the amount you have purchased plus a small commission. This means that in the case you buy something and you pay in dollars (whose value is lower than pounds), the number of pounds you pay should actually be a lot less. However, if you include the unrealistic change the branch has+ the commission + a small percentage of the amount you spend, the deal is not that great.
We got a prepaid card that not just didn’t make you pay a commision or a percentage, but the change rate was a lot closer to the real one. If you like travelling, it’s a great idea to use it, and there are several companies that provide this type of card.
Once you have decided the money you want to put on your card (you can top up everytime you want), you are ready to go shopping.
3.- SUCCESSION
What a great show! I am just loving it. Unfortunately, it’s not finished and it’s not a Netflix one. This means that I need to get back some patience and wait a whole week to the next episode, something I thought I was good at, but it’s a pain to not to just binge one 1/2 episodes per day.
Summarizing, the show it’s about a billionaire company owned by an old cold man that apparently does not have much feeling for his family. Specially his old son, who’s apparently obsessed with being important in the company.
Anyway, the moments of tension, mystery, a super great soundtrack (massively important) great performance (I love when they use unknown actors that go great with the character) and I am almost in pain just because I have to wait a whole week to see the next one.

4.- SHAKE SHACK
Don’t judge me, I know I am probably one of the very few people who hasn’t tried this place. However, I am not the very biggest fan of hamburgers. I prefer other types of foods, but it was time to try it and I enjoyed the food. However, I loved the milkshake, I am loving milkshakes lately. And the one that I had at Shake Shack is probably the best I have ever tried (I remember it had melted marshmallows).
5.- BANANA TREE
This is about food. I love the exotic meals this place has. This is the type of food that I can actually binge on. Not really sure how to pronounce most of the dishes. However, it’s supposed to be a mix of great Indochinese food.
Also, I have checked they have the “Happy Hour”. I will make sure I go back and try some of the cocktails they have.
6.- MY LOCAL CAFFE NERO
As a place to have a coffee and spend some free time blogging or reading blogs, the nearest Cafe Nero (2 min walking) has the second floor, with sofas, free wifi, calm music and a very nice environment.
I love coffee places with second floors or basements with sofas where you can relax and spend some time.

Yes, it’s really useful and handy, just remember to check the options, as there are several companies available with different requirements.
