Update on 2019 Starter Pack

At the beginning of the year, I published a post where I mentioned a few items I wanted to include in my daily life from January 2019. These items were supposed to improve my quality of life and also help me save some money.

It’s been 2 months since then. I have included some new items and I thought now was a good moment to give you an update about this.

Stainless Steel Straws

I still use them. Now, they are not perfect. They are made, as the name indicates, from stainless steel and that means that inside your mouth you are going to get this soft but annoying steel feeling. I wouldn’t call it a flavour, but if you are sensitive it could mean a NO for you.

It depends on the drink you are having. I usually have coffee and juices, however, if you want or have a camomile tea before going to sleep and want to use the straw to protect your recently cleaned teeth, you may feel the metallic taste.

Also, the pack came with around 5 straws, but they are reusable!

Conclusion: I use them regularly, they are good for me because the drinks I usually ingest have a decently strong flavour. If you usually have drinks with a very soft flavour, the metallic taste can easily overcome it and ruin it and that is a shame.

Electric Toothbrush

Great deal! I use it every day and have no intention to go back to the manual ones. At first, it feels extremely aggressive, but after a few weeks, I just feel how nicely cleans every part of my mouth.

I feel my teeth clean and fresh. I keep my manual toothbrush in my office desk and keep washing my teeth with it after lunch, so I can really feel the difference. The only con? It takes a loong time to charge.

Conclusion: Hell Yeah!

Thermal Cup

Fail! I got this cup with the purpose of saving in coffee. However, the first time I used it some of the coffee inside leaked. Fortunately, I put the thermal cup inside a plastic bag, so my purse survived, but I was really disappointed.
Also, the coffee didn’t last hot for too long.

I guess that’s what I get for buying a cheap one? I am thinking about buying a new travel mug/therm. What do you think I should do? I was thinking about getting one of those “Frank Green” travel mugs, but I need to be sure I am really going to use it every single day.

Conclusion: Fail, because of the bad quality! I was thinking about getting a new one. Let me know in the comments section if you have any recommendations!

Foreo

I still use it! I have the smaller size and most of the times I don’t use the vibration function, but I use it almost every day, at night, to clean my face. I think I should have probably bought the big one as this one sometimes feels a bit small for me. However, it’s perfect for traveling.

It’s not too harsh with my sensitive skin and it treats every hidden dirty spot of my face.

Conclusion: Victory, I will keep using it!

Pret Drinks

They are great, I still enjoy them once in a while. The only change? When I wrote the 2019 starter pack post, my favourite one was the Grape & Elderflower one. Now, the crown jewel to me is the lemonade. I still haven’t tried one that is as good as this one.

Conclusion: Victory! And you can also prepare them at home. The little number of ingredients makes it very easy to prepare on your own. That way, you can also play with the amounts and check the percentage of lemon or grape juice you want with yours. Easy and cheap!

New Discoveries

I introduced a new item in my life. An item that was going to be life-saving when it comes to… saving!

Glass containers are great for the community of people who wants to stop overspending. They occupy a special area in my kitchen. Both of us use them and every time I bring them with me, that is a small amount of money that I save in lunch.

They were more expensive than their plastic counterpart, but it feels cleaner and safer eating from them.

Conclusion: Yay!
