Just in case, Some Movies With Psychopath Characters
Sometimes, we feel like watching a specific type of movie, a movie that showcases a very unique character.
Today I want to share with you a few screenplays ruled by lunatics. Despite not being the main character in all of the following movies, I have selected the ones where the psychopaths have, at least, a prominent role.
1. American Psycho
A wealthy banker has two different lives and facades.
This one is a really old movie and probably the most famous one, so you probably have heard about it. Funnily enough, I watched it a few months ago and was pleasantly surprised.
2. We Need To Talk About Kevin
A great inside into the lives of two parents (concretely a mother) that suspects his son has some problematic issues since he was born.
This movie goes one step further on the topic of kids and their natural behaviour, their education, the hidden signs that often parents decide to ignore and the possibility of an innate trait.
3. Under The Skin
This movie was released in 2013. I remember Scarlet Johansson’s face advertised in every single bus stop.
Being categorized as Sci-Fi, I rejected to watch it as I am not the biggest Sci-Fi fan.
A few years later, I watched it and I loved it. It’s probably the only Sci-Fi movie I really liked, maybe because the story has a lot more meaning than the average “aliens and futuristic” point.
I don’t want to throw any spoiler at you, so I will stick by saying that my favourite part is the evolution of the main character.
4. Funny Games
The original one was released in 1997, but I only watched the 2007 version.
It has something different from the rest of the horror movies. What makes this movie special? Well, they break the fourth wall. It’s a risky move, but when done well it’s awesome.
5. Misery
Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name.
A famous writer has a car accident and is rescued by his biggest fan.
A true horror movie, without ghosts, spirits or supernatural creatures.
As a horror movie, this one allows you to see the realistic scenario, which gives you the opportunity to empathize at a deeper level.
6. Stoker
At a father’s funeral, a daughter and a mother are introduced to the father’s charismatic brother. He stays at their home in order to help them overcome the tragic loss.
Another thriller that gives you goosebumps, a bit scary and very unsettling.
7. Gone Girl
A lovely woman from a wealthy suburb disappears. Everything indicates that her husband is to blame.
Based on the novel of the same name.
I still haven’t read the book, but I want to do it in a few months after I have forgotten most parts of the movie. If you still haven’t watched it, you should definitely give it a try!
Have you watched all of them? Let me know if you have any recommendations!
