The 5 New Wonders That I Enjoyed In January

I was looking forward to sharing with you some January discoveries at last! Fortunately, January has been a month of discoveries, particularly in the food department, so I am willing to share my secret and not so secret spots in case you want to try them too.

Boba Tea

The sweet drink also known as Bubble Tea or Pearl Milk Tea has its origin in Taiwan. Some years ago, it was possible to enjoy this beverage in most cities and, despite enjoying juicy drinks with raspberry jelly, I would never venture myself to go for the traditional Fresh Milk Tea with pearls.

I don’t like tea, and I don’t enjoy milk that much either, so the idea of putting both ingredients together didn’t sound exactly alluring. However, luckily for me, a few months ago I tried it for the first time ever. To my surprise, the flavour of the iced black tea with milk and sugar was better than I expected. I remember I was pretty hungry and chewing the tapioca pearls with their funny consistency made it extra enjoyable.

However, it was last January when my new addiction developed. I passed through a bubble tea stand that has different samples of the drink on their stands. They were promoting an offer with a new app that shows healthy food places near you. I downloaded the app and, to my delight, I had Β£3 to spend on my first order. I decided to enjoy the drink again! At the end of the day, the full price was 4 pounds, which, after the discount, would leave the final price as 1 pound.

This time was different. I am not sure if it was the caffeine from the black tea, the extra sugar or the fact that the pearls were extra “chewy”, but I adored it. After the first purchase through the app, I got my second and last discount of 3 more pounds, which, as you can imagine, I enjoyed as well, but this time I got the drink form a different Bubble Tea place.

At this point, it was too late, I had cravings for bubble tea almost every day. This brought me to try different Bubble Tea places around me. I also googled the best Bubble Tea venue in London, and I am thinking about making a post reviewing all the boba tea that I have tried so you guys have an idea of the prices, flavours and location for each of them in case you want to try them out.

Winter lights

Every year a festival of lights takes place in Canary Wharf. The show includes interactive installations and pieces that can be enjoyed from the distance, but they are all connected.

It’s a nice place for a Saturday trip. As the lights are located all over Canary Wharf, you have to walk around the shopping centres, the station, etc. if you want to see all of them. Most of those lights have been designed in different countries of the world and I am pretty sure the lights will go back next year so if you happen to be in London, you can take advantage of this fun experience for free!

Acai Bowl

Unless you live under a rock, you have probably heard of this sweet dish made with acai berry.

I had it for the time and second time this January in two different cafes and the difference between the 2 of them was quite surprising. This bowl looks as exotic as you can imagine. You can usually find it with granola or different seeds. The flavour is pretty familiar, like a shake of different berries mixed with a few seeds and even more fruits.

Sweet but not too sweet and the perfect level of acidity, this delicious bowl is the perfect breakfast if you love colourful dishes!

Bojack Horseman – Last Season

The 31st of January was the release of the final bite of this epic show. I was the first one in line on my couch watching it and despite only watching 2 episodes, I want to consider it a highlight of the month.

At this point, I have already watched the whole season and I am pretty happy with the ending? Do you guys follow this TV Show? If so, what do you think of the ending? I know there is a bunch of people who hated it but I found it pretty realistic.

As much as I wanted to imagine Bojack Horseman as a new Simpsons or Family Guy in terms of duration of the seasons, It breaks my heart to accept that there won’t be a next season, which means I will end up again binging on the 6 seasons we already have when I feel nostalgic.

Found my new notebook!

It has taken me a loong time to find a journal for this 2020. I wanted it to be perfect and despite checking a few ones last December, I wasn’t able to pick up one. I think I take the “stationary for the year” topic a bit too seriously until It gets to the point where I don’t have any notebooks to write on!

At the end of the day, I am going to be using it almost every day, which means I need to like it and I need it to be comfortable for my left handwriting. I was lucky enough to find this Ted Baker notebook on sale online…
