End of the Year Resolutions Update
It’s been more than a month since I published the “End of the year resolutions“. I want to be honest with you. That means that, sometimes, I will fly proudly showing my achievements and sharing the secrets of my victory. However, I won’t be soothing my failures. I am going to be transparent with myself about the improvements that I have made in this short period of time.
Technology Detox
This one has been hard. I work with computers all day long and spend my free time reading blogs and looking for new movies to watch. Bringing a paper book with me to read when I am outside is annoying and I always go back to read on my phone.
However, I did stop checking my phone all the time before going to bed. I also stopped checking my phone first thing in the morning (except for the last couple of days!) and that’s a small change that I like.
Still haven’t been able to stay 2 whole days completely technology-free. However 2 weeks ago, due to family members coming over, I have spent 3 days ALMOST technology-free (I just used Google map on my phone), walking a lot around the city and it felt surprisingly refreshing.
Learn to shut down my brain
Improved! I have started to leave my mind blank, which has been revery helpful when it comes to falling asleep.
How did I do it? I just change my position. I sleep on the right side of the bed now. Have you ever heard about feng-shui? I wouldn’t have bet my money on that but having seen how well I am sleeping after simply changing my side in bed, I wouldn’t be surprised if the theory of moving furniture to keep your chakras in place had some logic and effectiveness behind it!
30 days Yoga challenge
I must report with great pain that I wasn’t completely consistent with the 30-day challenge. I made it until the day 15 though. I didn’t miss a single day from day 1 to the 15th. Then, I missed the 16th and decided to do the 16th plus 17th on the same day, and that’s when my train of consistency started wrecking. It’s true than I had some few hectic days, but the truth is that any reason I can give myself of why I wasn’t consistent would be more of an excuse than a real justification because none of the video-classes was longer than 36 minutes.
I completely recommend the 30 days yoga with Adrienne. It is beginner-friendly, easy and enjoyable. She is a great Yoga instructor and it came to my ears that she is starting a new 30 day Yoga course starting 1st of January.
And I am following it! Hopefully, I will make it to day 30 this time round. Have you tried these yoga challenges? If you have, let me know your experience!
Balance my dopamine levels
Victory! I completely took care of my diet and caffeine intake. I started switching coffee for peppermint tea for a few days. I also minimized my sugar intake. To be fair, the cherry on the top was a very annoying infection that appeared on my tongue. It was painful and wouldn’t go away. As if there was some superhuman existence forcing me to meet this resolution, said infection increases and gets worse with caffeinated drinks (including tea) and sugar.
I had to cut off both from my diet. The lack of caffeine made me feel like an extra from The Walking Dead for a few days. Now, I only drink coffee 2-3 times a week!
So…did you have any end of the year resolutions? If so, are they being consistent with them?
I won’t stop here. I am preparing a few resolutions for 2020. There are many things that I want to change and the best way to start is always writing them down and organizing strategies to meet them all.
Of course, there is nothing better than sharing them online in order to push yourself a bit harder, right? I will publish my next post with some 2020 resolutions and I am looking forward to knowing yours too!
