5 Amazing Tricks Shops Don’t Want You to Know

It’s Christmas! Some of us still need to buy a few things before the end of the year and there are a few tricks that we can use and that shops never tell us that could help us save some extra money.

Bargains online – All year long

Most shops have an online store. Usually, is very easy to find bargains and items on sale. This is because every new season the stores get their new collections, so they want to get rid of the old pieces. They have a limited space to put their items and of course, they use it for showing the new ones.

If you go to the online store you can usually see a section that allows seeing items which are from the previous season, and they keep them stored. If you buy them online, you will be saving a lot of money without having to wait until the sales season, but remember, don’t lose your head and control your expenses ALWAYS.

A lot more sales than just on sales season

After being registered in many online stores, some of them being big shopping centres, I came to realise that there are many more sales than the official ones. You can get very nice discounts on some moments of the year. Usually, these items have the discount available for a few days, but if you need something expensive and it happens that you can get a discount or use a coupon to buy them at a lower price, you’re still enjoying some sales!

My advice is, if you think you are going to need a cream very soon (eg. a moisturizer from Clarins), you can add the product to your Shoptagr account. Another option is to register yourself in several shops that sell the item you are going to need soon. In just a few days, you will get an email from their newsletters and you will be up to date, so when one of them has the cream you need, you can buy it from the establishment that offers the best price.

Same brand, 2 different shops

This one is related to the previous one. I came to realise that some brands sell their products in their shop, but also in some big departments as well (think Debenhams). They often have the same clothes, but not the same discounts. A few days ago, I saw a scarf that I liked on the same shop, but when I got home and did some research, I saw they had the same item on a very popular large retail store a few pounds cheaper.

So, if you love those brand new trainers, just make sure to check the price in different places to get the best deal.

Labels

I have heard about this one, but I haven’t tried it myself (I plan on checking it out very soon).

Apparently, some shops mark their clothes with the price they are going to have when they are on sale. They write with a pen the price that will have with the next discount on the same label, so it’s very close to the price that it has now.

If you are checking a £30 shirt and you see a “15” written with a pen on the side, it’s probably because there will be a discount very soon on that price will be reduced to that amount on that piece. Have you guys tried this one? Do you know if it works?

Leave it in the basket and go coupon searching

This is an old one.

If you are buying online but you are not in a hurry to pay and get your items as soon as possible, leave them in the basket for a while. Sometimes, the online store sends you a discount coupon that you can use in order to push you to buy it already.

This is more likely to happen if the items in your basket have the full price, but it depends on the store.
