5 Amazing Books You Need to Read Before Going Back to the Real World

Some years ago, one of my teachers was talking about the importance of reading. He said something along the lines of “When I see a teenager reading, I think, he’s saved”. Well, that’s bullshit.

I don’t think reading ANY type of book is going to save you from whatever that sentence was referring to. Some books are simply a waste of time. Nowadays, most publishers are more interested in the money the book is going to make than the quality of the book itself.

Some of the books that I read in my teenage years were a waste of time. They entertained, yes, but didn’t help me learn or grow in any sense.

On the other side, a decent book that teaches you something you can apply to reality…that’s another story.

Just in the last few tears, I started reading books that truly had something to contribute.

These are some of the best books that I have ever read.

Rich Dad Poor Dad (Financial)

You have probably heard about this book before.

Relates a story of someone becoming rich and the experience growing up with two different dads, his biological one, a teacher with qualifications (the poor dad) and his best friend’s (the rich dad).

The book is soo easy to read that you can finish it in a couple of days.

Reading this book felt like getting over a brainwash from some double standards about rich and poor people.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (Self-improvement)

This is another extremely easy to read the book.

It feels like a slap in the ass, the book is basically Nike’s logo “Just do it” explained in around 224 pages.
This book motivates you to start working towards your goals and forget about the fear of failing and not being good enough.
It analyzes why you are responsible for your own life and how do you cope with personal circumstances.

The Gift Of Fear (Psychology)

I can’t recommend this one enough. I believe this book should be used in every school to teach kids and young teenagers to cope with different situations in life.
Whether you are a man or a woman, you should read it. Whilst most of the examples focus on different hypothetical situations that are more likely to happen to women, everyone can be in a dangerous situation at some time on their lives, either on the street at night or in your workplace.

The book will help you understand and follow your instinct instead of trying to shut it down.

Often times, the social pressure to be nice to others works against us and can drive us to problematic circumstances.

The Sociopath Next Door (Psychology)

A book on the same topic as the previous one. This one explains the nature and existence of psychopaths.
If you have ever heard about the sentence “everyone has a heart” or, “we all have feelings”, you will get some profit from this book.

The amount of lies that we heard about psychopaths it’s incredible. We go from believing that they merely exist in movies, to thinking they are just “insane people with mental problems”.

It’s nice to read a book that opens your eyes and makes you understand how easy it is to cross paths with a person who has this mental disorder.

Think and Grow Rich (Financial)

This is a really great read that requires more time and effort to read than the previously mentioned.

It guides you through the steps you need to follow in order to create something you want. The purpose is to be financially free.

I like the fact that most of the book is based on real-life examples of different successful people from different backgrounds. You might prefer reading the physical version, as you can highlight or take some notes.

Have you read any of these books?

Let me know which are the best books you have read, I appreciate recommendations!

Rich Dad Poor Dad can completely change your perspective regarding wealth. The narration is straightforward and enlightening. It fails to provide personal strategies but it will help you understand that its not about how much money you make but how much money you keep, which is great advice

I agree. The book helped me change my perspective about money and about which people should I listen to when it comes to getting advice from.

Loved your suggestions. I have read Think and Grow Rich but I am really interested in some of the titles you mentioned (I have heard great things about The Gift of Fear, for example)

  • John Malone

That is a really good list of books. I have read The Gift of Fear and The Sociopath Next Door and I loved them.
i recommend these books to people who are interested in the patterns of human behavior; its not just insight into what i consider ‘bad behavior,’ its a very interesting behavioral view into the world of complicated interactions – and illustrates the problem of safety in a way that some people might not think about.

I am definitely checking the other books out!

Wow, so you read the psychological ones!
They are amazing and it’s so easy to immerse yourself into them that it’s possible to read them in just a few hours. They make you be aware of several patterns you didn’t think about before.
Hope you enjoy the other books!
