4 Movies To Escort Your Hot Chocolate This Winter
Hello everyone! I was thinking about refreshing the Movies part of the blog. This time, I have come up with a few movies that we can enjoy during this upcoming cold season. I love winter. The hot drinks, warm coats and sweet evenings under blankets, sometimes decorated with the snow than once in a while (well, maybe once in a long while!) happens to surprise London.
It’s the best moment of the year to enjoy those particular movies whose stories happen below 0 degrees Celsius and are often surrounded by snow, and decorated with ice. I have listed 4 wonderful winter movies that, apart from being intriguing, tell stories that happen to occur on winter weather.
1. Two Lovers And A Bear
A young couple, each of them with a very dark past, decides to abandon their lives in a small cold village using their resources.
The first time I watched the movie, I was genuinely surprised. Due to being an Indie Canadian drama, its release wasn’t massively promoted. However, the story and the dialogue was charming and very romantic!
Watching the main characters move around the frozen mountains, trying so hard to reach their desired destiny will freeze your feet, but the entire story will warm your heart!
I think it was a year later when I saw it for the second time. I remembered most of the movie, but it hit me in a very different way.
Do you guys remember my post about hating romantic movies for being dull and banal? Well, I think this one is an exception!
2. Force Majeure
It’s complicated to describe this movie without spoiling some important parts of the plot.
I am going to try to be as concise as possible. A family arrives at a beautiful resort in the Swiss Alps to enjoy some holidays skiing. However, an avalanche alarm generates different responses that create a hole in the marriage.
I love the sensitivity of the plot… living comfortable lives and taking for granted a certain level of safety, there are some topics we don’t need to question anymore.
Yes, you can imagine hypothetical scenarios and think about how you would react if some particular disaster happened. However, the truth is that nobody knows with certainty what their reaction would be in a real, alarming and sudden “fight or flight” situation.
And that’s exactly the main theme of the movie. Worth it!
3. Arctic
After a helicopter accident, a man has been living inside said broken helicopter, in the middle of the Arctic trying to survive with a few handmade tools, waiting for someone to find him and rescue him.
At some point, he has to decide if he wants to stay in the uncomfortable safety of the crashed helicopter or embark himself on a dangerous journey through the frozen landscape.
A very human story that will touch your heart. It’s painful to watch the main character struggle in the cold and deal with adversities.
I bet someone has asked you “what would you bring to a desert island?”. But how crazy would it be to get lost in the middle of the Arctic? What would you bring to try to survive in there?
4. Misery
Calling all Stephen King fans. This way, please!
I love the original plot. A distinguished author has a terrible car accident. Fortunately, his biggest fan lives nearby. Lucky him, right?
What would you do if you happened to find your favourite singer/actor/writer injured in the snow after having an accident? Would you help him/her and call an ambulance? Good!
The plot was more than enough to trigger my desire to watch this movie. I had previously witnessed the artistic skills of Cathy Bates, so I was looking forward to watch her again playing the caring Annie Wilkes.
And if surviving in a frozen place wasn’t hard enough, the horror stories that Stephen King creates offer can provide us with a new added creepy vibe.
Very adequate if you still haven’t got the time to enjoy your Halloween Movie night!

Two Lovers And a Bear was soooo good. Loved it, but it gets super emotional though towards the end of the movie right?
Great update

Great list. I would add Winter Sleep to those movies but to be fair that one is not for everyone, it is a bit slower paced…

Thank you! I still haven’t watched that one, but it’s on my list.
I have been delaying it because the trailer didn’t convince me that much.
